It is central to disease management with a wide range of tools and techniques available for the detection, staging and treatment. Diagnostics imaging provides detailed information about structural or disease related change. Early diagnosis saves lives.

At Parktown Hospital, we are currently offering digital General X-rays, Ultra Sound scan and Doppler Examinations includes Pneumoconiosis, chest among others. Our radiologists experts specialize in diagnosing and treating disease and injury using medical magging technics.

The radiology department at Parktown Hospital helps to determine when surgeries are necessary (early treatment is cheap).

Reduces the need for exploratory surgeries.

Guiding treatment for common condition such as injury cardiac disease and stroke.

MR Scanning

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the the best for the assessment of the neurological system but we also perform vascular, muscule-sceletal and abdominopelvic imaging.

Metallic objects may be affected causing heating or movement, including heart valves, orthopedic devices, foreign bodies, pacemakers and surgical vascular clips. The safety of any implantable devices or metallic objects in the body will be assessed prior to the examination – please remember to inform the radiographer about any such items. No ionizing radiation is employed and MRI is considered safe in pregnancy, but nevertheless generally avoided in the first 12 weeks of development.

Ultrasound Scan

We also perform muscule-sceletal ultrasound procedures, for the specialized imaging of muscles, joints and ligaments. Doppler ultrasound techniques allow flow imaging and facilitate evaluation of the heart and blood vessels. Doppler ultrasound tests are used to help ud find out if you have a condition that is reducing or blocking your blood flow. It may also be used to help diagnose certain heart diseases. The test is most often used to:

  • Check heart function. It is often done along with an electrocardiogram, a test that measures electrical signals in the heart
  • Look for blockages in blood flow
  • Monitor blood flow after surgery. Check for normal blood flow in a pregnant woman and her unborn baby. The real-time nature of ultrasound also facilitates visually guided biopsies and other minimally-invasive procedures.

Best results may require the patient to prepare for the examination. Generally, abdominal scans require that the patient not eat or drink for as many as 12 hours prior to their appointment. Pelvic exams require a full bladder.

Bone Densitometry

Bone densitometry measures bone mineral density, for evaluation of osteoporosis.

Plain film

We cover the whole spectrum of ordinary x-rays which include chest, abdomen and the extremities. For safety reasons women should always inform their radiographer (x-ray technologist) if there is any possibility they may be pregnant.
